This awesome vintage tee celebrates five time NBA champion and three time NBA Finals MVP, Magic Johnson. This legendary basketball star spent his entire NBA career playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, and this tee is copyright 1990, just one year before Johnson announced his abrupt retirement. After being selected first overall in the 1979 NBA draft, Johnson emerged as one of the most dominant players of the 80s, but his career was cut short after it was revealed he had contracted HIV.

Johnson's diagnosis did wonders to shatter the common misconception that HIV only affected gay men, but at the start of the 90s HIV was also widely believed to be a death sentence. Johnson did fear that he wouldn't be able to live a full life with the disease, but this was quelled by his position on the 1992 men's US Olympic basketball team. Johnson co-captained the team alongside his long-time rival Larry Bird, and their gold medal victory at the Barcelona Olympics helped Johnson gain a new lease on life.
