This amazing vintage t-shirt celebrates one of the three original nicktoons to air on the popular children's television channel Nickelodeon. This shirt pays tribute to The Ren & Stimpy Show which was created by John Kricfalusi in 1991. Unlike the other two nicktoons that premiered at this time, Rugrats and Doug, The Ren & Stimpy Show was marked by its controversial content that included dark humor, violence, and sexual innuendo. The show's edgy and polarizing humor was just one of the leading reasons why the production staff of the series came into continual conflict with Nickelodeon's Standards and Practices department.

Kricfalusi was actually dismissed from the show after only a year, and the creator credits two major factors for his termination. The first was his lax treatment of deadlines, and the second was a banned episode of the show called "Man's Best Friend", whose content barred it from being aired until it was used as a soft launch of a new Ren & Stimpy cartoon that aired on Spike TV in the early 2000s.

Despite the controversy surrounding the show, the cartoon gained a shower of praise during its original run and it has since gathered a strong cult following. Its irreverent humor resonated strongly with fans who enjoyed bits like Powdered Toast Man, the log song, Happy Happy Joy Joy, and space madness.
