This awesome tee features an amazing water-based print that dates back to the 1960s. The shirt celebrates Star Trek: The Original Series, and it was made during the decade that the series first premiered. What would eventually become a beloved science fiction franchise, began with a single NBC series created by Gene Roddenberry. The show chronicled the adventures of the crew of the starship Enterprise, and the primary cast consisted of William Shatner as Captain Kirk, Leonard Nimoy as Spock, DeForest Kelley as Dr. Leonard "Bones", James Doohan as Scotty, Nichelle Nichols as Uhura, George Takei as Sulu, and Walter Koenig as Chekov.

Star Trek wound up being a ground breaking series when it first aired. The show preached the importance of diversity and acceptance during a period of time when civil rights were still a hotly debated topic. Because of this, the characters of Hikaru Sulu and Nyota Uhura became two of the first examples of positive role models of color in television history. For some young kids in the 60s, Star Trek was the first time they were able to see characters like themselves reflected on screen in a positive light.

Fits like a modern unisex adult large. There are some holes and discoloration on the graphic, see pics.
