This awesome vintage race tee commemorates the Mission Bay Marathon in 1979. The Mission Bay Marathon was a footrace event that was created by the San Diego Track Club, during a time when San Diego runners didn't have any local marathons to participate in. The marathon used to take runners around a course that both started and ended at SeaWorld.

This shirt features the famous Nike swoosh logo on the sleeve. It's likely that Nike served as a sponsor for the race. While Nike eventually grew to become the largest sportswear manufacturer in the world, the company was still fairly small in the 1970s. The company only launched their first brand advertisement in 1976, and so it was more common to see Nike sponsoring local events like the Mission Bay Marathon around this time.

The tag says extra-large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult large
