This vintage shirt is a piece of athletic apparel that dates all the way back to the 1950s. This shirt is a football jersey that's made from a durene fabric, which boasts both comfort and durability. The red jersey is totally blank and it includes side vents and padding around the elbows. This vintage gem is a product of the Southern Manufacturing Company, which was the predecessor to the iconic Russell Athletic brand.

The Russell Manufacturing Co. was founded around the turn of the century by Benjamin Russell, and it initially focused on producing undergarments. One of their biggest claims to fame came when they invented the crew neck sweatshirt, which was conceived to be a comfortable and breathable practice uniform for athletes. Shortly after that was when they acquired the Southern Manufacturing Company, which allowed them to delve into the realm of athletic uniforms and apparel. By the 60s they had become the largest athletic apparel manufacturer in the country, and they'd also changed their name to Russell Mills.

Fits like a modern unisex adult large. There is fading on the back and spots throughout, see pics.
