This wonderful tee pays tribute to the Russian prima ballerina, Natalia Makarova. Considered one of the finest dancers of her generation, Makarova's prowess set new standards for the art of ballet. At the age of sixteen, she became a permanent member of the Kirov Ballet and achieved prima ballerina status. She later defected to the west amidst the Cold War and began performing with the Royal Ballet in London and the American Ballet Theatre in New York.

While she danced many roles, Makarova is best remembered for classic parts like Odette and Odile in Swan Lake, and the titular peasant girl in Giselle. Her emotional return to the Kirov Ballet in 1989 was also captured in a documentary film that she presented, called Makarova Returns. Although she retired after her reunion with the Kirov, she went on to direct and choreograph for numerous other companies across the globe.
