This vintage tee was specially made in the 1970s for a member of a group called Nucweps. This could very likely be referring to the United States Navy Nuclear Weapons Association (NNWA). It's held up great and perfectly captures that old school vibe.
Features a classic jersey style, one hundred percent polyester, mesh sleeves, and a patriotic color scheme. Considering the awesome jersey design and #88 printed on the back, this might have been made for a NNWA sports team- perhaps baseball or softball.
Nucweps dates back to 1946 and was founded as a nationwide organization for military veterans who engaged in the US Navy Department of nuclear weapons program. These members meet up every year across the USA to provide support in veteran affairs, salute the departed, pay homage to historical sites, and simply catch up with old friends. They are lovingly self-dubbed "Keepers of the Dragon."
NNWA's legacy continues to live on thanks to its dedicated members, a very rich history, and amazing military collectibles like this vintage t-shirt.
