The professional classic winners of the '77 US Nationals included Dennis Baca (Top Fuel Dragster), Don Prudhomme (Top Fuel Funny Car), and Don Nicholson (Pro Stock).

The NHRA U.S. Nationals is regarded as the most prestigious drag racing event in the world thanks to its rich history and massive size. Traditionally it's held on Labor Day weekend and has come to be commonly known under the moniker The Big Go or the Denso Spark Plugs U.S. Nationals.
