This awesome tee shows off the bat symbol, the iconic logo used by the DC Comics superhero Batman. Batman was conceived by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger back in 1939. They created a story about Bruce Wayne a wealthy, playboy, philanthropist who transforms into his alter ego, Batman at night to protect streets of Gotham City. Batman was originally created to capitalize off the popularity of another DC Comics hero, Superman. To counteract Superman's wholesome image, Batman was originally portrayed as a ruthless vigilante, but over time the character was given a strict moral code. This shirt is from the 80s, and during that time Batman comics were notably dark. Stories like The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Killing Joke, and Batman: A Death in the Family, were characterized by their gloomy tone and intense subject matter.
