This awesome vintage muscle tee pays tribute to the single "Ziggy Stardust". However this tee wasn't made for the David Bowie song from 1972. This shirt honors the cover that was released by Bauhaus ten years later. The gothic rock band purposefully chose to cover the beloved Bowie tune, as a way to mess with critics who had been accusing them of copying the other rockstar's sound.

Bauhaus' version was released as a single by Beggars Banquet Records, with a cover of Brian Eno's "Third Uncle" serving as the record's B-side. The song wound up becoming their highest charting single, and even earned the band an appearance on Top of the Pops. Its popularity also boosted the sales of their most recent album, The Sky's Gone Out, allowing the album to peak at the number three spot on the UK charts.

During this same time, Bauhaus made an appearance in the cult classic vampire movie The Hunger. They were featured in the opening credits performing their signature goth anthem, "Bela Lugosi's Dead", and funnily enough the movie starred the very artist the band had just covered, David Bowie.
