This awesome tee celebrates the 15th annual Winternationals held at the Darlington International Dragway in South Carolina. The Winternationals was an exciting racing event that was sanctioned by the International Hot Rod Association during the latter half of the 20th century. It was a tradition started shortly after the formation of the IHRA in 1970, and it used to serve as the kick off to the IHRA race season.
The 15th edition of the event was held in 1987, and it was the first time in three years that the race featured a Top Fuel category. Another notable moment was seeing Bill Kuhlmann become the first Top Doorslammer driver to exceed 200 mph in the quarter mile.
