This sweet shirt features the Looney Tunes character Yosemite Sam, and reads, "Back off, varmint!" This cartoon cowboy was first introduced in 1945 in the short, Hare Trigger. He was the creation of Friz Freleng, who bore a comical resemblance to the diminutive, hot-tempered Sam. Freleng's original motivation for creating Sam, was to introduce an adversary for Bugs Bunny, who was more formidable and dastardly than the mild-mannered Elmer Fudd.
