This sweet vintage shirt promos the hilarious American sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun, which aired from 1996 to 2001 on NBC. The show starred Kristen Johnston, John Lithgow, French Stewart, and Joseph Gordan-Levitt as a group of extraterrestrials attempting to pose as a normal human family in order to study human society on Earth. Much of the humor in the show came from the aliens' struggles to understand the human condition, while later episodes of the series saw the group become more invested in their human lives than in their original mission.

Prior to the show John Lithgow had already established a successful career in theater and film, but he chose to take on the sitcom specifically because the project would allow him to spend more time with his family. His character in the series poses as physics professor at the fictional Pendelton State University, and his eldest son Ian actually played the role of one of his students, Leon, throughout the series.
