This sweet tie dye t-shirt is a piece of vintage merch from the heydays of the Disney Store in the 90s, and it celebrates the 1995 animated movie, Pocahontas. Ranked among the top five highest grossing films of 1995, the movie was based very loosely on the life of Pocahontas, a Native American of the Powhatan tribe who was captured by the English colonists of the Jamestown settlement.

Disney's Pocahontas was directed by Mike Gabriel and Eric Goldberg, after Gabriel made his directorial debut with The Rescuers Down Under. Gabriel's pitch to the Disney executives re-imagined Pocahontas' life as a star-crossed love story, which caught the attention of Peter Schneider in particular, as he had been trying to develop an animated version of the Shakespearian tragedy Romeo and Juliet. Despite its polarizing historical inaccuracies, the movie was a box office success that garnered several awards, particularly two Academy Awards for its score composed by Alan Menken, and the original song "Colors of the Wind".
