The Great American Race has roots tracing back to 1983, when Tom McRae and Norman Miller pulled off what most thought was impossible- they organized a race exclusive to classic cars, antique rides, and hot rods all from pre-World War II era. The long distance race started off from California to Indiana, and over the years took on routes like Anaheim, CA to Orlando, FL. The 1991 event took racers from Norfolk, VA to Seattle, WA.
