This awesome vintage shirt celebrates the professional football player Art Shell, and it highlights Shell's time playing for the Los Angeles Raiders from 1968 to 1982. Shell played as the team's offensive tackle and during his time in the NFL he was named to eight Pro Bowls, and made two winning Super Bowl appearances.
This shirt is from the 90s, and it also highlights Shell's time serving as the head coach for the Raiders. Shell started his coaching career just a few years after he retired from the game and he began as the Raider's offensive line coach. He was bumped up to head coach beginning in 1989 and he held the position until 1994. Shell was given the AFC Coach of the Year award in 1990 when he lead the team all the way to the AFC Championship. Shell also made history that year as he became the first African American coach to lead a team to the Conference Championship.
