This cool tie-dyed shirt showcases the Trade Federation Battleship, which made its first appearance in the 1999 Star Wars film, Episode I: The Phantom Menace. The Trade Federation are a corporate organization that were introduced in the prequel trilogy. They are a major catalyst for events of The Phantom Menace, as they are responsible for the government crisis that leads Qui-Gon Jinn, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padme Amidala to meet Anakin Skywalker, the boy who later grows up to become Darth Vader.

The Phantom Menace premiered sixteen years after the last Star Wars film, Return of the Jedi. Director George Lucas didn't have much interest in expanding the franchise, until he began developing the back story of how Anakin Skywalker turned to the dark side.
