This sweet vintage band tee is for They Might Be Giants and it features a humorous graphic promoting a proposed future tour slated to take place in 2040, a year that would be well past the band's 50th anniversary. They Might Be Giants originated in the Brooklyn DIY music scene during the early 80s, and one of their most notorious early projects was Dial-A-Song, which involved an answering machine full of recorded music, that people could call in to listen to. It was around this time that the band also released the demo cassette that landed them a deal with Bar/None Records, with whom they recorded their first two studio albums.

From the late 80s and into the 90s, They Might Be Giants gained success with several college radio and modern rock hits. Their third studio album, Flood reached platinum status thanks to the hit single "Birdhouse in Your Soul". Their popularity was then further boosted thanks to Warner Bros. Animation, who created two music videos starring the cast of Tiny Toon Adventures, that were set to their songs "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" and "Particular Man".  They Might Be Giants has continued to record and perform music into the 21st century, and they even received a Tony Award nomination for their contributions to the original score of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.
