T-SHIRT TUESDAY - Come on baby, do the Loco-Motion!

On this day in 1962, a 17-year-old singer named Little Eva scored her first and only #1 hit “The Loco-Motion.” It's only appropriate that on this day in 2015, we're featuring a selection of train and railroad themed t-shirts from the shop.

"The Loco-Motion" was written as a follow up to "The Mashed Potato" by American songwriters Gerry Goffin and Carole King. And soon enough, the song that opens with the lyric “Everybody’s doo-oo-in’ a brand-new dance now…” was climbing the pop charts and spawning a short-lived dance craze based on the truly brand-new dance Little Eva made up herself to fit the song.

"The Loco-Motion" is notable for appearing in the American Top 5 three times – each time in a different decade: originally Little Eva in 1962 (#1); then American band Grand Funk Railroad in 1974 (#1, once again):

and finally Australian singer Kylie Minogue in 1988 (only reached #3, but it's still my favorite 'cause it's the cheesiest and from my childhood and, I mean, look at those amazing backup dancers!!!):

Now, swing those hips on over to The Captain's Vintage and see that great selection of train and railroad themed t-shirts
