Word on the street is the Philadelphia Phillies are suddenly streaking. Apparently so did the Phillie Phanatic back in August 2011...
I've never really been a sports fan, but I've always loved that Phanatic. I mean, who wouldn't love a large, furry, green creature with an extendable tongue who, according to his official biography, hails from the Galapagos Islands, and was designed by Jim Henson and the Muppets?!?! The Phanatic is usually acknowledged as one of the best ballpark mascots, is arguably the most recognizable mascot in all of sports AND, apparently, is the most sued mascot of all time!
Some of my favorite Phanatic moments include parodying Lady Gaga back in 2010 ...
putting good ol' G.W. in a headlock in 2001 ...
appearing on 30 Rock (Season 6, Episode 4: “The Ballad of Kenneth Parcell”)...
celebrating his mommy, Phoebe, on Mother's Day ...
this GREAT Nirvana Nevermind parody for "Total 1990s Retro Night" back in summer 2013...
hangin' in the studio with one of my favorite Philly bands Dr. Dog (check out their song "The Phanatic Song"!)...
And imitating Balboa for the end credits of the final Rocky movie.
Now is the time to hop on the Phillies (and/or Phanatic) bandwagon, folks! We've got TONS of vintage Phillies shirts in our inventory, including the featured Phanatic shirt at the top of the post. Click on the Phanatic shirt above or check 'em all out here.
