This amazing band t-shirt celebrates the English rock band Bauhaus, who were integral pioneers in the development of gothic rock. This tee showcases the emblem of the German art school Bauhaus, a symbol which the band adopted for themselves and their promotional materials in the 80s. Bauhaus released their debut album In the Flat Field during the Fall of 1980. This was considered one the first gothic records ever released and it was preceded by release of the band's iconic, nine minute-long single "Bela Lugosi's Dead", which went on to become a major goth anthem.
By their third album, The Sky's Gone Out, the group had achieved mainstream success in the UK, and the album even peaked at No. 3 on the UK charts. The group released one final album in the 80s, Burning from the Inside, before disbanding in 1983. Prior to the record's release, lead singer Peter Murphy fell ill and wasn't able to spend much time in the studio. A rift then grew between him and the rest of the band, who were forced to compensate for his absence.
After the group's dissolution, Peter Murphy began working on a solo career, while other former members Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins formed a new band, Tones and Tail. David J later joined them, and the trio created another new group, Love and Rockets. Bauhaus did eventually return to both the stage and the studio however. The group has embarked on several reunion tours, starting in 1998, and they even put out a new album in 2008.
