This awesome tee is to honor the Himawari geostationary satellites. The satellites support tropical cyclones, weather forecasting, and meteorological research.

Operated by NEC (Nippon Electric Company), NASDA (National Space Development Agency of Japan), JMA (Japan Meteorological Agency) and Hughes Space. The first Himawari satellite was launched in '77 from Cape Canaveral and retired in '89. This shirt appears to be for the Himawari-3 launched on August 3rd, 1984.
