This sweet band tee is for Metallica and it commemorates their tour promoting the album ...And Justice for All. This 1988 release was the band's fourth studio album and the first to feature Jason Newsted on bass. Newsted joined the band following the tragic death of founding member Cliff Burton, who was killed in a bus accident during the band's Damage Inc. tour. Burton actually received a posthumous writing credit on ...And Justice for All for the track "To Live Is to Die".
Metallica fans were wary yet excited to see the band return to the studio following Burton's death. The new release didn't disappoint, and the record wound up being a commercial success that peaked at the number six spot on the Billboard 200, making it their first album to ever breach the top ten. The record also earned them their first Grammy nomination, and they were the favorites to win in the category of Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrument. When the group lost to Jethro Tull, the backlash actually led to a revision of the categories, and two seperate awards were introduced in 1990, one for Best Hard Rock Performance and one for Best Metal Performance.
