This cool tee advertises the "Thunder from Downunder" and it was made to commemorate a 1987 rugby match at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Long Beach, California. The match was between New South Wales and Queensland, two Australian rugby teams that were competing in the State of Origins series. Usually the State of Origin is a best-of-three competition, but that year a fourth, exhibition match was held in Long Beach.

The exhibition match was a bold move, that was intended to help generate interest for a rugby league in America. Supposedly the game drew a crowd of around 12,500 spectators, but it had little lasting effect on US interest in the sport. Still this was a uniquely unprecedented event to be held in Long Beach.

Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. There are spots on the front near the bottom and a repair on the back, see pics.
