This double-sided long-sleeved tee commemorates the New Haven 20 Kilometer Road Race that took place on Labor Day in 1987. The race was run in Branford, Connecticut which is located on Long Island Sound in New Haven County. The back of the shirt features the logo for the popular clothing manufacturer Starter. The company is known for their major league sports licenses which include MLB, NFL, and NBA.

The front of the shirt, meanwhile, features a cartoon graphic from the Pulitzer Prize winning comic strip artist Garry Trudeau. Trudeau is best known for his comic strip Doonesbury, and he also went on to become an executive producer for the Amazon series Alpha House. Trudeau was the first comic strip artist to ever be awarded a Pulitzer and also received recognition from the National Cartoonist Society, earning both the Newspaper Comic Strip Award and the Reuben Award in the mid 90s.
