In the late 70's / early 80s, Dr. Pepper fans were given a nickname: the Peppers. I know that sounds ridiculous today, but it was a simpler time...
This Dr. Pepper shirt is an example from the I'm a pepper campaign, which kicked off in 1977 and quickly became one of the most well known advertising campaigns of all time. Here is one of it's most famous commercials featuring Dan Naughton, who went on to star in an American Werewolf in London:
This shirt was the t-shirt that you would wear to tell the world, I'm a pepper too! You can also see it here from The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou on Jeff Goldblum (I'm assuming it is a repro)
