Eddie Murphy's 1985 tour featured a whopping 69 sold out shows across the USA, in cities like New York, Philly, Chicago, Tampa, and Houston. It's often remembered by the catchy promo slogan "Lawd have Murphy", a funny play on the phrase "Lord have mercy".

Murphy's career as a comedian dates back to 1976, performing at local clubs as a 15 year-old high schooler. His first rise to fame was as a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 1980-1984. From there, Eddie Murphy, kept the ball rolling and has established himself in all corners of entertainment including film, music, writing, and producing.

As a stand-up comedian, Murphy was larely inspired by Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, and Bill Cosby. He would later go on to become an influential figure for a whole new generation of comedians.
