This vintage tee pays homage to the Hawaii's strong surf culture with some petroglyph-inspired art aka kii pohaku. Although these are probably not representative of actual ancient rock art, the imagery is clearly inspired by it.

Hawaii's surf culture can be traced as far back as the 19th century, though some believe it goes even further back. In modern times, Olypmic swimmer Duke Kahanamoku is often dubbed "the father of surfing", while 19th century King David Kalakaua is credited with reviving the islands love for surfing. Ancient Hawaiians are known to have done a variation of surfing called he'e nalu or wave sliding on massive wooden boards.
